Breast Surgery

Breast cancer is at the second disease after gynaecological cancers among the lethal cancers. In some countries, it is the first reason of death. Therefore, routine breast examinations in the Breast Clinic in Nişantaşı Hospital are recommended. A self examination which the women can do themselves also has a big significance for early diagnosis.

Women between the ages of 20-25 should examine themselves every month, each woman between 30-40 years of age should have examination, ultrasonography and mammography and all women above 40 should annually have examinations and mammography.

Early diagnosis reduce the causes of death which cancer may cause to a lower level and makes it possible for the patient to back to her normal life after treatment. The primary treatment for breast cancer is surgical intervention. The tumour in the breast is removed from the breast tissue via surgical techniques or whole breast is taken.

In cases where the whole breast is taken, the patient can have breast reconstruction after the radiotherapy and chemotherapy process is over. With breast repair, the breast which was taken is brought to its natural state. In Nişantaşı Hospital, breasts that are very close to the original can be formed thanks to modern techniques and experienced surgeons.
