Methods Applied for the Normal Development of Children

Children should be monitored starting from time in the womb until the end of puberty at certain time intervals. The purpose it to protect and support the health, prevent the avoidable diseases and early diagnose and treat the diseases.

At every examination, the systemic examination of the child is performed and measurements of hight, weight and for children below the age of 2 the diameter of head are evaluated. Children are not copies of their parents. Their major difference from adults is the fact that they continuously grow and develop. The monitoring of this process starts in the womb through examinations of the physicians and continues to be evaluated by pediatrist until the end of puberty.

Evaluation of the growth:

The height and weight of the children are measured and marked on the standard growth curves and then compared to to that of other children with same gender and at the same age. When the values of the child is below or above the standard growth curves or when this applies to previous measurements, a discontinuation of the growth curve should be an alert. In such cases, examinations should be performedin terms of nutritional disorder, genetic problems, hormonal impairments, celiac disease or chronic infection.

When necessary, measurement of bone age can also be done.

Evaluation of the development:

During the examination of the child, the evaluation should be done in different access for monitoring the development.

Each child is expected to gain certain capabilities at certain time intervals. On this basis, physicians evaluate the neuro-motor and psycho-social development of the children through examinations as well as questions directed to the parents. The development of the child can be evaluated through personal, social, lingual, fine and gross motor skills.
